The Last Goodbye
song and lyrics by Billy Boyd Chinese translation by Ying Hattie Wang

"The Last Goodbye"
I saw the light fade from the sky On the wind I heard a sigh As the snowflakes cover My fallen brothers I will say this last goodbye
Night is now falling So ends this day The road is now calling And I must away
Over hill and under tree Through lands where never light has shone By silver streams that run down to the sea
Under cloud, beneath the stars Over snow and winter's morn I turn at last to paths that lead home
And though where the road then takes me, I cannot tell We came all this way But now comes the day To bid you farewell
Many places I have been Many sorrows I have seen But I don't regret Nor will I forget All who took that road with me 多少地方我曾到过
Night is now falling So ends this day The road is now calling And I must away
Over hill, and under tree Through lands where never light has shone By silver streams that run down to the sea
To these memories I will hold With your blessing I will go To turn at last to paths that lead home
And though where the road then takes me, I cannot tell We came all this way But now comes the day To bid you farewell
I bid you all a very fond farewell
Ever since I heard this song in the cinema, I can't let it off my mind. Now, whenever I read the lyrics, I can imgaine the misty mountain, fangorn forest and elvin realm appearing in front of my eyes.
A 14-year movie journey, I guess it's hard to just let it go. So, I used my profession and translated the lyrics into my mother tongue as a tribute to The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings.
I then sent a tweet with a screenshot of the translation to Billy Boyd to thank him for the beautiful song, and guess what? He kindly retweeted my tweet. I feel so rewarded and happy.
